FrightMaps is live in ChatGPT

FrightMaps now has an app in the ChatGPT app directory. Open it in ChatGPT, ask for haunted houses, and it answers with listings from the FrightMaps map: professional haunted attractions, neighborhood yard haunts and charity scares.

How to start

There are two ways in:

• Open the link above and press the button beside the FrightMaps name. It says Try in chat or Install plugin, depending on your ChatGPT account.
• In a ChatGPT chat, type @FrightMaps followed by your question.

The listing suggests three starter prompts:

• Find haunted houses near me
• What are the best haunted attractions in Pennsylvania this October?
• Find free yard haunts and charity scares in my zip code

What you get back

FrightMaps answers with a card of haunts. Each one shows its photo when it has one, the city and state, and its likes on FrightMaps. Once a haunt has earned a few likes you also see its level, and you see its scare level when the owner has set one, like Creepy Thrills.

Every haunt has a View on FrightMaps button that opens its full listing. If a haunt sells tickets through FrightMaps, it gets a Get tickets button. Otherwise, a haunt with its own website gets an Official site button.

Narrowing it down

FrightMaps can:

• Show only free haunts.
• Show only charity and fundraiser haunts.
• Show only yard haunts, or only professional attractions.
• List the most-liked haunts in one state, or across the country.
• Find upcoming ticketed haunt events in a city, state or ZIP, with dates when they are available and a link to buy tickets on FrightMaps.
• Pull up the full listing for one haunt, including its description, hours, photos and fundraiser details.

How location works

FrightMaps searches the place in your request: a city and state, a whole state, or a ZIP code. It never sees your GPS, only the place ChatGPT passes along. If you just say "near me," ChatGPT picks the place to search, so naming your town or ZIP gets you the most accurate list.

Results for a city or ZIP are sorted by likes. If your ZIP has only a few listed haunts, or none, FrightMaps usually adds the closest listed haunts nearby, with a rough distance for each one it adds. If a city name doesn't match, you get the most-liked haunts across that state instead.

For haunt owners

What ChatGPT shows about your haunt comes from your FrightMaps listing, so an out-of-date listing means an out-of-date answer. Before October, check:

• Your cover photo
• Your website link
• Your description
• Your scare level
• Your hours, which show when someone asks for your haunt's full listing
