The Best Home Haunts in Indianapolis for Halloween 2026

If I had to point to one city on the FrightMaps map and say "this is why we built this thing," it would be Indianapolis. We have 167 haunts mapped in the metro — more than any other city. Part of that is sheer population and Midwestern haunt culture, but a huge part of it is Historic Irvington, a neighborhood that doesn't just tolerate Halloween, it organizes around it. The density of home haunts within a few miles of each other there is unlike anything I've seen in the country. This time of year, planning an Indy haunt crawl is basically mandatory.

Here are eight stops worth building your route around.

The Spook At Mayfair Village sets the tone immediately. The scale here is hard to miss — 12-foot animatronics, custom fabricated props you won't find anywhere else, and a puking toxic-waste skeleton that has apparently claimed the unofficial title of "Indy's best." I don't argue with that kind of conviction. This is a full production yard haunt, not a few plastic tombstones.

Irving Circle Leisure Park commits to a bit and sticks with it. The concept: haunted friends having a perfectly normal time at the park. Bikes, roller coasters, a pool. All the leisurely fun of a summer afternoon, except everyone's dead. The whole thing is funnier and creepier than it has any right to be.

On the inflatable side of the spectrum, The Land Of The Inflated goes big — literally. Thirty-plus inflatables on one property, including a 25-foot Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and a 14-foot Jack Skellington looming over the yard. If you're a Nightmare Before Christmas house, you're going to hear about it from us. These folks are doing it right.

Just outside the metro in Whiteland, Carver Farm runs Fridays and Saturdays through October with a backstory that actually earns the effort: Mr. Carver has been mutating his pumpkin seeds, and if you took one, that pumpkin is now possessed. The mythos is specific enough that it sticks with you. Worth the drive out of the city.

Back in Irvington, Ouija and Spells is exactly what it sounds like — you can sit down for a Ouija session or pick up a witch's brew potion. On Halloween itself, there's a coffin full of candy. This is the kind of hyper-committed, immersive home haunt that makes Irvington what it is. You don't just walk past, you participate.

The Spooks And Bones Of Choctaw Ridge Way was voted Indy's Best Halloween House by Fox 59, and the scope justifies it — skeletons, witches, a reaper, a UFO, and a giant rooftop pumpkin that I'm still thinking about. The rooftop detail alone puts this in a different category.

If the concept of a Haunted Tiki Bar doesn't immediately sell you, let me elaborate: a pirate captain standing guard over a cauldron, skeletons partying under glowing tiki lights, ghostly flamingos. It's absurd and perfect. The execution is fully committed to the tropical-horror bit and I respect it deeply.

Finally, Skirvin Cemetery leans hard into the classic graveyard setup with its own lore — two evil dead sisters who want to either hug you or bury you, a reaper waiting for his moment, and two life-size coffins with apparently a vacancy or two. The sisters detail is a nice touch. Most cemetery yards are props; this one has characters.
