The Best Home Haunts in the Philadelphia Area for Halloween 2026

Philadelphia has one of the most active home-haunt communities in the country. I know because I've spent years building FrightMaps specifically to track them down — and right now, across Pennsylvania, South Jersey, and Delaware, we've got 435 haunts mapped for this season. Every October I end up spending weekends driving through suburbs I'd never otherwise visit, following pins on the map to front yards and side streets where people have quietly built something incredible. This year the Philly metro is delivering.

South Jersey and Delaware

Cross the Delaware and you've got two stops worth the drive.

Over in Pennsville, the jones/taylor house is running their home haunt as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. That kind of thing matters to me — haunters who channel all that creative energy into something beyond just scaring people. Show up, get scared, help kids.

Down in Wilmington, Haunted Smith Manor is the kind of display that stops you mid-drive. We're talking colossal giants, rising skeletons, and ghouls that emerge from the dark — all visible from the street. No admission required; just slow down and take it in.

Chester County and Coatesville

Out in Coatesville, the Reeceville house of giant monsters is exactly what the name promises. Giant-scale monster figures, Halloween display done big. Chester County keeps surprising me every year.

Delaware County Corridor

Delaware County might be the most underrated stretch on the Philly metro map this season.

In Swarthmore, the In Memory Of Bill Smith

• Blackrock Road Haunted House is one of those haunts that means something. Bill Smith ran this annual haunt for years, and his family is keeping it going in his honor — Halloween night only, with both scare and non-scare walk-throughs available. That's a community keeping a tradition alive, and I think it deserves the traffic.

Just up the road in Springfield, Macabra Mirra's Cemetery goes full cemetery on Halloween night — grave-digging skeletons, a hearse drawn by a skeleton horse, ghouls clawing up from the ground. If you're doing a route, this is the kind of stop that earns its slot.

Brookhaven's greenwood cemetery is an interactive Halloween display with effects built in — not just a static yard setup. Worth stopping for if you're working the Delaware County stretch.

And in Folsom, Let There Be Rock School-Haunted House is doing something I love seeing: a music school turning its space into a pop-up haunted house on October 25th, free to attend, in their second year running it. Community haunts like this one rarely get the crowd they deserve, and FrightMaps exists partly to fix that.

Something Different: Lansdale

If you want to close out the season with something that isn't a walk-through haunt, Lansdale's Annual creep show

• gallery exhibit runs through November 1st. It's a macabre art exhibition at a gallery — ages 10 and up, costumes welcome. I've always thought the Halloween art world and the haunted house world should overlap more than they do, and this is that overlap.
